CAMPING AT COYOTE LAKE
A Hike To the Lake
- Part 2 (of 7) -

Wildlife in the Morning

We decided to take a morning hike to the lake and immediately ran across three young deer and a flock of turkeys in the dry lake area to the East of our camp site. There were also some wild pigs to the right (out of the picture) at the edge of the underbrush on the far side of this area.

The Camp Site

Our camp site, taken from down in the dry lake bed just about where those deer were standing. It was a cloudy day but very pleasant – not raining and temps in the mid 60’s.

The Hike Begins

This is a view of the lake, which is roughly a mile North of the camp site, taken from the dry lake area as we begin the hike.

The Trail

There is a trail to the lake that runs along the high-water mark. The ground is solid on the trail but gets soggy/muddy if you go lower into the dry lake bed area.

Dry Lake Bed Foliage

The plant life in the dry lake bed area can be beautiful.

The Stream

A small stream feeds the lake. We decided to cross the stream to explore the East side of the lake.

Later That Day

Later that day, back at camp, there was a really dramatic sunset.
