CAMPING AT COYOTE LAKE
The Turkey Episode
- Part 3 (of 7) -
The Morning Stroll
A flock of wild turkeys strolled by the camp site again this morning. Here we see some males fanning their tail feathers to impress the females. This photo was taken from inside the trailer and also shows the huge oak shade tree next to the trailer.

The Stand-Off
The two males at the center of this photo appeared to be challenging each other - both seemed to be saying "I'm more impressive than you... Just look at my tail feathers! ...and my puffed up chest feathers!"
The females didn't seem all that impressed.

The Turkey Trot
The same two males kept trotting around each other as the flock moved through the camp sites.

The Fan Dance
The two males trying to out-do each other actually got to be pretty ridiculous. It made for some interesting photo opportunities, but really guys - give it a rest!

The Photo Bomb
I was taking photos of the turkey in front when another one jumped into the picture with wings fanned (photo-bomb!).

The Response
Then the turkey in front responded by fanning it's wings as if to say "I can do that, too!".

The Pose
This turkey stood in the same spot for about five minutes turning this way, then that way, then back again... It seemed to know it was being photographed and posed like a model on the runway.
