Winter storms mean strong winds, along with heavy rain and snow, which bring down many trees each year. This giant fell a few years ago and is beginning to disappear into the undergrowth.

It looks like this tree had partially fallen many years ago, becoming bent as it continued to grow. The final fall left a twisted mass of roots.
